The VFW Post 4692 at 794 North Harvey Mitchell Parkway in Bryan will host an Operation Iraqi Freedom Program honoring Iraq War veterans at 7 p.m. this evening.

The event, which should last about 45 minutes, will include a slideshow of pictures depicting how soldiers live in Iraq and spoken testimonies from Iraq veterans of various branches about their experiences while serving.

The program will conclude with prayer and the playing of Taps.

"[The event] is to pay tribute to the Iraq vets, so people can be aware and see how they live and what they go through over there," said John Velasquez, the VFW 4692 post commander.

Carla Maddox, a counselor who helps veterans in dealing with PTSD, and Steve Garcia, who works for the Texas Work Force to help find jobs for veterans, will both be introduced at the event to provide information about the services they provide.
