Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp has announced the kickoff of a national search for the next president of the system's flagship university.

A nine-member team, with seven voting members and two non-voting members, will make up the search committee. They are tasked with picking three candidates to recommend to the Board of Regents.

... and (nunca) Sabio is strangely silent on this matter.

Why throw up a smokescreen and tell us that you are doing a national search when you probably have you're man or woman picked out. As elf pointed out, Aggies should protest but why don't the faculty and staff protest the current BOR's decisions?

The committee will be composed of 3 academics and 4 CEO's, all associated with Perry. Our next academic president will definitely NOT be academic. He will be another one of Perry's cronies that Perry selects. I suppose Sharp is trying to dispel the belief that his committees are all secret. However, he accomplishes his goal by making the committee majority absolutely biased.

To all the Aggies that love and support this school, I suggest a protest. Neither the alumni, the faculty, the students nor the staff have a chance against Perry's cronies.

The appt of the search committee makes it clear that students and staff can come to the meetings, but in the end no one has to listen to them...Voice is critical...having one's voice listened to happens when one has a true vote. However, we all know that those in power do not truly value input from students or the university's staff.

John Gladysz has been the Chair of the Executive Committee of Distinguished Professors for several years and Joanne Lupton was elected to the ECDP last spring. John Stallone is a very solid faculty member.

I would not call it a diverse committee. I don't think any of the members are non USA bred, for example.
