A local company specializing in the design of classroom desks aimed at improving student health was recently awarded a two-year, $1 million grant by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that will be used to fund continued research.

Stand2Learn, a division of College Station-based PostiveMotion, will utilize the grant in partnership with the Texas A&M University Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health in their studies of the health impacts on students who use desks developed to encourage standing.

Kids who are sitting are burning almost no calories. Burning 20-30 percent more than almost no calories is still almost no calories. How do people get government money for this stuff? And why are our tax dollars paying for their company's R&D?

Quit being so trigger happy. Nowhere in the article was there even an implication that the grant was awarded after the shutdown.
