A Texas A&M student organization hosting paralympic sports for veterans held its first event Friday evening.

Rejy Bacchus, a veteran of the Marine Corps and a senior majoring in tourism management, founded Aggie Veteran Adaptive Sports this semester. Bacchus, who suffered severe ankle injuries while preparing to deploy to Iraq, has competed on a national level with the U.S. Paralympics sitting volleyball team, which won a gold medal in April at the Central American Games.
