A Bryan man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police say he cut a woman while inside a restaurant.
According to Bryan police, the owner of a restaurant in the 300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Street called officers and said a man had slashed a woman's arm, dragged her into a car and drove off. Officers searched the area and received an update that the woman had been taken to a local hospital. Police arrived at the emergency room and found in the waiting room a woman with a T-shirt tied around her arm and 42-year-old Snapper Darrill Rush.
A police report states another woman had called Rush's cell phone while Rush and the victim were having dinner. The victim answered the phone, which made Rush angry, police said. According to the woman, Rush insisted she leave with him, but she refused, and he chased her around the restaurant and cut her with a folding knife. The restaurant owner told police Rush yelled at the woman, who asked the owner to use the restaurant's phone, which further angered Rush, a police report states.
Rush is charged with aggravated assault of a family member, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison. He is being held at the Brazos County Jail on $12,000 bond.
