A Texas A&M University student died Sunday after crashing her vehicle into a tree, authorities said.
Texas Department of Public Safety officials said Lauren Nicole Baker, 20, was returning to College Station after the Thanksgiving holiday around 9:40 a.m.
Officials said she swerved off the east side of northbound Texas 6, about 10 miles south of Navasota, and struck a tree. The vehicle came to rest in a creek.
Baker, Missouri City resident, is listed as a junior interdisciplinary studies major on the Texas A&M Web site. She was pronounced dead around 11 a.m. at Grimes St. Joseph Health Center.
