A Brenham woman remained in jail Tuesday on $1 million bail in the shooting of her husband.
Officers responded Friday night to reports of someone being shot at a home on South Baylor Street.
"When officers got on scene, we could hear a subject screaming from the backyard or side of the house," Brenham Detective Todd Ashorn said.
Dispatchers were on the phone with 37-year-old Mindy Greenwood at the time, and she agreed to let officers get her 60-year-old husband out of the backyard but threatened to hurt herself if attempts were made to come into the home, he said.
"It took roughly two hours of a negotiator talking to her before she surrendered," Ashorn said.
Ashorn said the circumstances of the shooting were unclear.
The husband, he said, was recovering at Houston's Memorial Hermann Hospital and spoke to police Monday.
Greenwood was in the Washington County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony with a maximum punishment of 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
