Authorities said a 63-year-old Centerville man died after his pickup was struck by an 18-wheeler in Leon County Sunday.
Richard Dale Worley, a retired rancher, was driving his 2007 Dodge truck east on Texas 7 at 1:25 p.m. and was attempting to turn left on County Road 204 when his vehicle was struck on the driver's side door by an 18-wheeler that was attempting to pass him, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The truck and the 18-wheeler, pulling a box trailer, ended up facing east in the north bar ditch, a DPS official said.
Worley, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the East Texas Medical Center in Tyler about two hours later, according to the DPS. His body was taken to the morgue at the hospital.
Francisco Sanchez Jr. of Stephenville, the driver of the 18-wheeler, was not injured, the DPS official said.
It was unclear if any citations were issued.
