Officials on Thursday were investigating how a vehicle ended up in the Brazos River off Highway 21 West.
A DPS official said he believes two people were in the 2008 Jeep that went into the river off Highway 21 at the railroad trestle bridge around 12:10 p.m., but no one was in the vehicle when it went into the water. A DPS official said it appeared the occupants of the Jeep were underneath the bridge and were either trying to put a boat in or take a boat out of the water.
Officials believe only one vehicle was involved in the accident, but did not have further details. A wrecker was on the scene shortly before 1:30 p.m. trying to pull out the Jeep, according to the DPS.
The DPS official did not know the occupants' conditions or whether they were transported to hospitals. No roads were closed during the accident, he said.
