Police identified the driver killed after striking a utility pole late Sunday as a 21-year-old Texas A&M University student.
Adam Segura, from San Antonio, died from his injuries at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, police said. Police were notified of his death shortly before 11 p.m.
College Station police responded to the intersection of Raymond Stotzer Parkway and Texas 47 at 4:20 p.m. Officers said Segura, driving a 2003 Toyota Tacoma truck, was southbound on Texas 47, traveled under the Raymond Stotzer, also known as F.M. 60, overpass and onto the eastbound Raymond Stotzer entrance ramp.
While driving on the entrance ramp, the truck rotated in a clockwise motion and left the roadway, where it struck a utility pole and rolled, according to police. Segura did not have any passengers, police said.
Emergency officials extricated Segura from the pickup. He was wearing a seatbelt, police said.
An autopsy has been ordered.
