A 32-year-old man faces a felony charge of stealing a computer from a Bryan store.
Kelly Joe Obanion of Bryan was arrested Monday on charge of theft of property with two or more previous convictions.
Police said they responded to a report of a shoplifter at WalMart at 2200 Briarcrest Drive around 4:20 p.m. An employee told police she saw Obanion open a children's basketball goal box, go to a different aisle to select an computer, then return to put the computer inside the box for the basketball goal. Obanion later returned with a shopping cart to pick up the box and checked out, paying for the basketball goal and other items, but not the computer valued at $898, according to a police report.
Because of two theft convictions in 2008, the charge is a state jail felony punishable by up to two years in jail and a fine up to $10,000.
He remained jailed Tuesday in lieu of $5,000 bail.
