A 60-year-old Somerville man died Friday after the lawn mower he was riding was struck by a vehicle on Texas 36, just north of Somerville, authorities said.
Texas Department of Public Safety officials said Charles Polite was crossing the road on his riding mower when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Christie Stephens, 22, of Brenham.
Polite was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:54 p.m., officials said.
Stephens was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
