Man faces evading arrest, DWI charges

A 23-year-old Bryan man remained jailed late Sunday after being arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and evading arrest in his vehicle, authorities said.

Bryan police said they began following Victor Dreramedelo Rodrigues' vehicle late Saturday after a witness reported a possible drunken driver leaving a club on Leonard Road.

Officers said Rodrigues failed to stop when they turned on their lights but eventually pulled into a driveway and was arrested.

Paramedics were called when Rodrigues began having trouble breathing in the back of the patrol car, and he was taken to St. Joseph Regional Health Center, where officials determined he had cocaine in his system and a blood alcohol content of 0.181, according to the police report.

Rodrigues was released from the hospital and booked into the Brazos County Jail with an immigration hold.

Evading arrest in a vehicle is a class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a fine up to $4,000. Driving while intoxicated is a class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.

Neighborhood matches neither Texas DPS nor CSPD in either year 2007 or 2008. The Neighborhood numbers are too high for them to be for five or six months of 2009.

As much as I hate to disagree Rocky, the Neighborhood numbers are incorrect. I have emailed them and I see the site is down for maintenance. Perhaps when the site comes back online the numbers will be accurate.

Absolutely correct, this neighborhoodscout.com is inaccurate. It lists College Station sexual assaults 10% over the numbers CSPD reports for 2008. Either that or CS has exceeded 2008 numbers in just over five months in 2009.

"How is Bryan worse?" You asked. Let us see what a independent out of state web site has to say about it. ----------------This is what a independent source NeighborhoodScout.com said about Bryan.""""""With a crime rate of 76 per one thousand residents, Bryan has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One's chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 13. Within Texas, more than 90% of the communities have a lower crime rate than Bryan. Separately, it is always interesting and important to compare a city's crime rate with those of similarly sized communities - a fair comparison as larger cities tend to have more crime. NeighborhoodScout has done just that. With a population of 66,069, Bryan has a combined rate of violent and property crime that is very high compared to other places of similar population size. Regardless of whether Bryan does well or poorly compared to all other cities and towns in the US of all sizes, compared to places with a similar population, it fares badly. Few other communities of this size have a crime rate as high as Bryan. The crime data that NeighborhoodScout used for this analysis are the seven offenses from the uniform crime reports, collected by the FBI from 17,000 local law enforcement agencies, and include both violent and property crimes, combined. Now let us turn to take a look at how Bryan does for violent crimes specifically, and then how it does for property crimes. This is important because the overall crime rate can be further illuminated by understanding if violent crime or property crimes (or both) are the major contributors to the general rate of crime in Bryan. For Bryan, we found that the violent crime rate is one of the highest in the nation, across communities of all sizes (both large and small). Violent offenses tracked included forcible rape, murder and non-negligent manslaughter, armed robbery, and aggravated assault, including assault with a deadly weapon. According to NeighborhoodScout's analysis of FBI reported crime data, your chance of becoming a victim of one of these crimes in Bryan is one in 94. In addition, NeighborhoodScout found that a lot of the crime that takes place in Bryan is property crime. Property crimes that are tracked for this analysis are burglary, larceny over fifty dollars, motor vehicle theft, and arson. In Bryan, your chance of becoming a victim of a property crime is one in 15, which is a rate of 66 per one thousand population. "---- NeighborhoodScout.com DOES THIS ANSWER YOUR QUESTION?
