-- Eagle Staff Report
A 77-year-old Iola man died Wednesday and two other people were injured in an auto accident in Grimes County.
Authorities said a vehicle was stopped on F.M. 244 near Iola waiting to make a left-hand turn into a private drive when a vehicle struck it from behind. The impact caused the first vehicle to cross into oncoming traffic, and it struck a third vehicle.
Hayden Edward Archer, a passenger in the third vehicle, was taken to St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, where he was pronounced dead.
Faye Crittendon Archer, 69, of Iola -- the driver of the third vehicle -- and Tammy Lynn Michael, 39, of Iola -- the driver of the first vehicle -- were hospitalized in good condition with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Authorities said Hayden Archer was not wearing a seat belt.
