Police said they are investigating the death of a 22-year-old Texas A&M student hit by a train early Friday on campus.
Officers received a report at 2:09 a.m. about a pedestrian struck by a train in the area of Wellborn Road north of Old Main Drive, according to Michael Ragan, A&M’s assistant police chief.
When officers arrived, they found senior industrial distribution major Patrick Noel Jernigan II, of Cleveland, Texas, on the tracks under the train, Ragan said.
The College Station Police Department, the College Station Fire Department and the Texas A&M EMS assisted in the incident, he said.
Ragan said an autopsy has been ordered. He said he could not release further details because of an ongoing investigation.
