A College Station woman has been arrested after taking more than $8,600 from her employer, authorities said.
Rebecca Diane Lemons of College Station was arrested Thursday on a charge of theft between $1,500 and $20,000, a state jail felony punishable by up to two years behind bars and a fine up to $10,000.
The general manager of Subway on Wellborn Road told police that Lemons had altered bank deposit slips over the past year to show that she had deposited money that she hadn't, according to a police report.
When the manager asked Lemons about the deposits, he told police, she gave him deposit slips that the bank verified were not real and had not been used to make deposits.
The last fake deposit was made Monday, police said, when Lemons was the only person working. Surveillance camera footage shows Lemons making out the deposit slip, police said.
Lemons, 37, was released from the Brazos County Jail on Friday after posting $5,000 bail.
