Bryan school board approves calendar

Bryan school board members have approved the 2010-11 school year calendar.

Under the adopted calendar, school will begin Aug. 23 and end May 19.

Spring break is scheduled the same week as Texas A&M's, which is March 14 through March 18.

In addition to Thanksgiving and Christmas, scheduled school holidays are Labor Day, Columbus Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President's Day and Good Friday.

College Station trustees approved that district's calendar in the fall.

The start date in College Station is also Aug. 23, and students will be released for the summer May 27.

College Station's spring break also runs in conjunction with A&M, and student holidays are scheduled for Oct. 11, Jan. 3 and 17, Feb. 21, and April 22, 2011.
