Atkinson Toyota Fishing Report

AROUND THE STATE

AUSTIN (AP) -- Here is the weekly fishing report as compiled for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for Oct. 22. (Report also available on Web as www.txfishing.com.)

CENTRAL

BASTROP: Water stained. Black bass are good on watermelon Finesse worms and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are fair on live minnows and white tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on hot dogs and stink bait. Yellow catfish are fair on live perch.

BELTON: Water stained; 76 degrees; 1.18' low. Black bass are good but small on white spinnerbaits. Hybrid striper are fair on white Riversides and Sassy Shad at night under lights. White bass are good on white Riversides and silver/green Sassy Shad at night under lights. Crappie are good on minnows in 1012 feet. Channel and blue catfish are good on summer sausage, hot dogs, and Owens sausage. Yellow catfish are slow.

BROWNWOOD: Water clear; 76 degrees; 3.87' low. Black bass to 7 pounds are fair on buzzbaits, June bug worms, frogs, Persuader crankbaits, and redbug and watermelon red Grande Bass 4" Trickster worms on 3/16 oz. jigs along docks, around rocks, and over brush piles in 815 feet. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are fair on Li'l Fishies and crankbaits off lighted docks at night. Crappie are slow. Channel catfish to 5 pounds are fair on cut bait and nightcrawlers over baited holes in 1215 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.

BUCHANAN: Water clear; 78 degrees; 13.38' low. Black bass are good on Rat-L-Traps, white Spinnerbaits, and white/chartreuse back crankbaits in 820 feet. At midday switch to JDC skirted craws on jigheads, root beer JDC Drop Shot worms on drop shot rigs, and grape Scoundrel worms along deepwater creek ledges. Striped bass are good on Zara Spooks, Red Fins, Spoiler Shads (plastic swim baits) and drifting or free lining live bait from Shaw Island to Lighthouse Point in 2540 feet on the surface at daylight. White bass are slow to fair on Tiny Traps and 2" plastic swim baits along the river channel in 1225 feet. Crappie are good on pink/white or chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows in clear water. Channel catfish are good on liver, minnows, and cheesebait. Yellow and blue catfish are good on live and dead shad.

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 77 degrees; 9.49' low. Black bass are fair to good on Smokin' Green Devil's Tongues on drop shot rigs, watermelon red Whacky Sticks on wacky rigs, and Texas rigged 6" pumpkin Scoundrel worms along main lake bluffs in 12-25 feet, and on white spinnerbaits in standing timber in 48 feet. Striped bass are slow to fair trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits over and around humps, and jigging 1oz. Pirk Minnows at daylight. White bass are slow. Smallmouth bass are fair on smoke JDC grubs and 3/16oz. pumpkin Curb's jigs with matching JDC craw trailers in 1228 feet early. Crappie are fair on minnows and crappie jigs upriver. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are good on trotlines and juglines baited with live goldfish and perch.

COLEMAN: Water clear; 76 degrees; 4.69' low. Black bass are good on chartreuse crankbaits and watermelon red soft plastic worms. Hybrid striper are good on live minnows. Crappie are fair on live minnows and blue tube jigs over brush piles. Channel and blue catfish are good on stink bait, shrimp, and liver. Yellow catfish are slow.

COLORADO RIVER: (At Colorado Bend State Park) Water clear. Black bass are slow. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on minnows near the boat ramp. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are fair on liver and shrimp in deep holes.

FAYETTE: Water clear; 78 degrees. Black bass are fair on watermelon gold, watermelon red, and chartreuse pepper Carolina rigged soft plastics along outside edges of grass in 68 feet. Red ear perch are good on worms in 410 feet. Channel and blue catfish are slow.

GRANBURY: Water clear; 2.05' low. Black bass are good on chartreuse spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics off points. Striped bass are fair on live minnows. White bass are fair on minnows and pet spoons. Crappie are good on minnows and green tube jigs. Catfish are good on stink bait, shrimp, and liver.

GRANGER: Water murky; 70 degrees; 2.80' low. Black bass are fair on crankbaits upriver in shallow areas. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows in 1012 feet. Blue catfish are fair on fresh shad. Yellow catfish are good on trotlines baited with live perch upriver.

LBJ: Water stained; 76 degrees; 0.21' low. Black bass are good on clear swim baits, Curb's buzzbaits, and watermelon/purple flake Whacky Sticks along seawalls and creek points in 212 feet at daylight. Striped bass are good on Creme 2" Spoiler Shads and Li'l Fishies at night. White bass are fair to good on Li'l Fishies at night. Crappie are fair on Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows over brush piles in clear water. Channel catfish are good on minnows and liver. Yellow and blue catfish are good on trotlines.

NAVARRO MILLS: Water clear; 76 degrees; 2.06' low. Black bass are excellent but mostly small on minnows. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are very good on cut shad and doughbait. Yellow catfish are slow.

PROCTOR: Water stained; 75 degrees; 3.98' low. Black bass are good on black and purple soft plastic worms. Striped bass are good on silver/blue Rat-L-Traps. White bass are good on cut shad. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on stink bait, shrimp, and shad. Yellow catfish are good on live bait.

SOMERVILLE: Water fairly clear; 2.32' low. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are slow.

STILLHOUSE: Water clear; 74 degrees; 3.12' low. Black bass are very good on cotton candy and baby bass soft plastics during the day, and at night on June bug trick worms. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow to fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are excellent on live perch.

TRAVIS: Water clear; 78 degrees; 23.55' low. Black bass to 7 pounds are good on topwaters, dark worms, and crankbaits in 515 feet. Striped bass to 3 pounds are fair on white grubs and jigging spoons in 3040 feet. White bass are good on chrome jigging spoons and minnows in 2538 feet. Crappie are fair on minnows and white tube jigs in 15 30 feet. Channel and blue catfish to 6 pounds are fair on nightcrawlers and fresh cut bait in 28 42 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.

WALTER E. LONG: Water clear; 77 degrees. Black bass are good on minnows and cut bait. Hybrid striper are good on minnows and cut bait. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows near the dam. Channel and blue catfish are good on nightcrawlers and shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow.

WHITNEY: Water clear; 7.96' low. Black bass are fair on chartreuse spinnerbaits and crankbaits, and on watermelon topwaters early and late. Striped bass are fair on live minnows. White bass are good on minnows and hellbenders. Crappie are good on minnows and pink tube jigs. Catfish are fair on frozen shrimp, stink bait, and minnows.

NORTHEAST

ATHENS: Water lightly stained, 66-70 degrees; 0.72' low. Black bass are good on Zell Pops early, later switching to Rat-L-Traps and Texas rigs. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs fished over brush piles. Bream are fair to good on red wigglers. Catfish are fair on live worms and prepared bait.

BOB SANDLIN: Water fairly clear; 66-70 degrees; 0.18' low. Black bass are good on clear Zara Spooks early, midday switching to Senkos, wacky rigs and Texas rigs. White bass are good on slabs, with sporadic surface schooling. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers and cut bait.

BRIDGEPORT: Water fairly clear; 67-69 degrees; 4.65' low. Black bass are good on Rat-L-Traps, Texas rigs and medium diving crankbaits White bass are fair to good on slabs and live bait. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers and cut bait.

CADDO: Water off color; 66-69 degrees; 0.34' high. Black bass are fair to good on Stanley Ribbits, spinnerbaits and Texas rigs. Crappie are fair to good on minnows. White bass are good on minnows and Rooster Tails. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers.

CEDAR CREEK: Water lightly stained; 67-70 degrees; 1.93' low. Black bass are fair to good on Yellow Magics early, later switching to spinnerbaits, Texas Rigs and shaky head rigs. White bass are good to excellent on slabs. Hybrid striper are fair to good on large slabs jigged vertically. Crappie are fair to good over brush piles. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers.

COOPER: Water lightly stained; 66-69 degrees; 3.69' low. Black bass are good on Lake Fork Frogs and Zara Spooks, later switching to wacky and drop shot rigs. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows over brush piles. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are fair on slabs and live shad. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers and cut bait.

FAIRFIELD: Water fairly clear; 79-88 degrees. No report available.

FORK: Water lightly stained; 67-70 degrees; 0.53' low. Black bass are fair to good on Stanley Ribbits and Yellow Magics early, later switching to wacky rigs, 5" Yum Dingers and chatterbaits. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on nightcrawlers and prepared baits.

GRAPEVINE: Water off color; 66-70 degrees; 5.49' low. Black bass are fair to good on Zara Spooks early, later switching to Texas rigs, medium to shallow crankbaits and wacky rigs. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs. White bass are good on slabs. Catfish are fair to good on cut bait and nightcrawlers.

JOE POOL: Water off color; 67-70 degrees; 2.16' low. Black bass are good on Texas rigs, Rat-L-Traps and shaky head jigs with a finesse soft plastic. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs. White bass are good on slabs. Catfish are fair to good on prepared baits and cut shad.

LAKE O' THE PINES: Water stained; 66-69 degrees; 0.83' high. Black bass are good on Zell Pops early, later switching to chatterbaits, Texas rigs, flukes and wacky rigs. Crappie are good on minnows over brush piles. Catfish are good on nightcrawlers and cut shad. Bream are fair to good on red wigglers.

LAVON: Water stained; 66-69 degrees; 4.31' low. Black bass are fair to good on medium to shallow running crankbaits, Rat-L-Traps and Texas rigs. White bass are good on slabs. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs over brush piles. Catfish are fair to good on cut shad and nightcrawlers.

LEWISVILLE: Water off color; 66-70 degrees; 3.62' low. Black bass are good on buzzbaits and Zara Spooks early, later switching to Texas rigs, chatterbaits and shady head jigs with a 3" Berkley Power Worm. White bass and hybrid striper are good on chartreuse/white slabs. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on cut shad, nightcrawlers and prepared baits.

MARTIN CREEK: 3.74' low. No report available.

MONTICELLO: Water fairly clear; 78-90 degrees; 0.69' low. Black bass are good on topwaters early, later switching to wacky rigged trick worms, Texas rigs and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs over brush piles. Catfish are fair to good on prepared bait and nightcrawlers.

PALESTINE: Water lightly stained; 67-70 degrees; 0.23' high. Black bass are fair to good early and late on buzzbaits and Zell Pops, midday switching to Texas rigs, wacky rigs, spinnerbaits and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs over brush piles. Catfish are good on cut shad and prepared bait. Bream are good on worms. Hybrid striper and white bass are fair to good on slabs and Rat-L-Traps.

RAY HUBBARD: Water off color; 67-70 degrees; 0.98' low. Black bass are fair to good on topwaters early, midday switching to spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, Rat-L-Traps and Texas rigs. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs over brush piles. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are fair on slabs. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers and cut bait.

RAY ROBERTS: Water lightly stained; 66-70 degrees; 1.39' low. Black bass are good on Carolina rigged Yum Lizards. Crappie are good on minnows over brush piles. White bass are excellent on chartreuse Bomber Slabs. Catfish are good on cut and prepared bait.

RICHLAND CHAMBERS: Water off color; 67-70 degrees; 2.9' low. Black bass are good on Rat-L-Traps, wacky rigs, Texas rigs and crankbaits. White bass and hybrid striper are fair to good on slabs. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on cut bait, prepared bait and nightcrawlers.

TAWAKONI: Water lightly stained; 66-70 degrees; 3.01' low. Black bass are fair on topwaters early, later switching to spinnerbaits, Texas rigs and wacky rigs. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs. White bass are fair to good on slabs. Striped bass and hybrid striper are fair on live shad and slabs. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers and prepared bait.

TEXOMA: Water off color; 67-70 degrees; 1.5' low. Black bass are fair on topwaters early, later switching to crankbaits, Texas rigs, spinnerbaits and jerk baits. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs. Striped bass are good on topwaters, live shad and Super-Traps. Catfish are fair to good on prepared bait and cut shad.

WEATHERFORD: Water lightly stained; 69-69 degrees; 4.67' low. Black bass are fair to good on chatterbaits, Texas rigs and wacky rigs. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs over brush piles and in the crappie house. White bass are good on slabs. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers and prepared bait.

WRIGHT PATMAN: Water lightly stained; 67-70 degrees; 4.48' high. Black bass are fair to good on Zara Spooks early, later switching to shaky head rigs, Texas rigs, Rat-L-Traps and 3" Yum Dingers. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs over brush piles. Catfish are good on prepared bait and cut shad.

SOUTH

AMISTAD: Water murky; 76 degrees; 0.76' high. Black bass are fair on topwaters, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics. Striped bass are fair on topwaters and large jerkbaits. White bass are slow. Catfish are fair on cheesebait, shrimp, and nightcrawlers. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live perch. Everyone in the boat must have a Mexico fishing license (if fishing the Mexico side) whether fishing or not.

BRAUNIG: Water stained; 78 degrees. Black bass are fair on crankbaits and dark soft plastic worms in reeds and near the jetty and dam. Striped bass are good on liver and shad near the pier and at Dead Tree Point, and on silver and gold spoons and marble spinnerbaits near the jetty and dam. Redfish are good on perch, shrimp, shad, tilapia, and silver spoons, and down rigging spoons near the jetty and dam. Channel catfish are excellent on liver, shrimp, cut bait, and cheesebait near the dam and the intake. Blue catfish are good on cut bait.

CALAVERAS: Water stained; 78 degrees. Black bass are fair on dark soft plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits around reed beds, near the dam, and in Granny's Cove. Striped bass are slow. Redfish are good on live bait and down rigging spoons with green grubs between the crappie wall and the dam in 1520 feet, and on perch and tilapia near the dam and Spider Island. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on liver, shrimp, cheesebait, and shad near the railroad bridge and 181 Cove. Yellow catfish are slow.

CHOKE CANYON: Water lightly stained; 78 degrees; 4.21' low. Black bass are good on soft plastic lizards and large worms in heavy grass in 1220 feet. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows. Drum are fair on live worms. Channel and blue catfish are good on punchbait in 27 feet. Yellow catfish are fair on live perch and goldfish.

COLETO CREEK: Water clear; 77 degrees (84 degrees at discharge); 3.22' low. Black bass are fair on pumpkinseed soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits in 1020 feet. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows and green tube jigs in 1018 feet. Channel and blue catfish are good on trotlines baited with live perch. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live perch.

FALCON: Water stained; 77 degrees. Black bass are good but mostly small on spinnerbaits and large Brush Hogs in 58 feet. Striped bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish to 50 pounds are excellent on cut bait up the river. Yellow catfish are slow. Everyone in the boat must have a Mexico fishing license (if fishing the Mexico side) whether fishing or not.

SOUTHEAST

CONROE: Water murky; 1.29' low. Black bass are very good on watermelon red and watermelon gold soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and topwaters in 1020 feet. Striped bass are fair on live minnows and green striper jigs. Crappie are good on minnows and blue/white tube jigs. Catfish are fair on stink bait, frozen shrimp, and nightcrawlers.

GIBBONS CREEK: Water clear. Black bass are good on chartreuse blue soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are good on minnows and blue tube jigs. Catfish are very good on stink bait, frozen shrimp, and live bait.

HOUSTON COUNTY: Water stained; 77 degrees; 0.42' high. Black bass to 5 pounds are good on 10" plum apple Zoom worms, watermelon candy Trick worms, and silver Rat-L-Traps near the dam in 915 feet. White bass are good on live minnows. Crappie are good on live minnows and orange and chartreuse grubs near the dam. Bream are good on live worms off piers and near grass beds. Channel and blue catfish are good on trotlines baited with shad, and on live nightcrawlers on rod and reel.

LIVINGSTON: Water fairly clear; 78 degrees; 0.03' low. Black bass are fair on spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Striped bass are slow. White bass are good on pet spoons, slabs, and hellbenders. Crappie are fair on minnows. Blue catfish are good on shad and cut bait. Yellow catfish are slow.

SAM RAYBURN: Water lightly stained; 78 degrees; 7.32' low. Black bass are good on topwaters, soft plastic worms, and spinnerbaits early. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on live minnows. Bream are fair on worms. Catfish are good on punchbait.

STEINHAGEN: 1.32' high. No report available.

TOLEDO BEND: Water clear; 77 degrees; 4.26' low. Black bass are good on watermelon red soft plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and topwaters early, and later on redbug or black/blue worms off points. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows in 20 feet. Bream are good on nightcrawlers. Channel and blue catfish good on stink bait. Yellow catfish are slow.

PANHANDLE

GREENBELT: Water lightly stained; 62 degrees; 25.76' low. Black bass are fair on shad-colored crankbaits and spinnerbaits along points and drop-offs and black/blue jigs around grass lines and timber. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows. White bass are good on live bait and small crankbaits. Smallmouth bass are fair on shad-colored crankbaits along grass lines. Walleye are good on live bait and crankbaits. Catfish are good on live bait.

MACKENZIE: Water lightly stained; 63 degrees; 74.54' low. Black bass are fair on live bait and shad-colored crankbaits worked around rocky points. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. White bass and striped bass are fair on minnows and chrome jerkbaits. Smallmouth bass are fair on shad-colored crankbaits. Walleye are fair on minnows. Catfish are fair on live bait.

MEREDITH: Water lightly stained; 65 degrees; 70.52' low. Black bass are fair on shad-colored spinnerbaits and crankbaits along grass lines and rocky points. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows. White bass are fair on live bait and shad-colored crankbaits. Smallmouth bass are good on live bait and black/chartreuse jigs around rocky points. Walleye are fair on live bait and shallow crankbaits. Channel catfish are fair on cut bait.

PALO DURO: Water lightly stained; 61 degrees; 52.10' low. Black bass are slow on live bait. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows. Smallmouth bass are fair on live bait and chrome/black back jerkbaits. Walleye are fair on live bait and chartreuse/black back crankbaits. Channel catfish are fair on live and cut bait.

WEST

ALAN HENRY: Water lightly stained; 68 degrees; 0.01' low. Black bass are fair on shad-colored spinnerbaits, crankbaits and black blue jigs. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs.

ARROWHEAD: Water lightly stained; 69 degrees; 5.27' low. Black bass are fair along rocky points. Crappie are very good on jigs fished deep off the derricks. White bass are good schooling chasing shad on the surface early and late in day. Blue catfish are fair on juglines and fishing with cut shad on flats in 8 feet.

COLORADO CITY: Water clear; 72 degrees; 6.09' low. Black bass are slow. Crappie are slow. White bass are slow. Catfish are slow.

FT. PHANTOM HILL: Water clear; 71 degrees; 0.32' low. Black bass are fair on live bait. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. White bass are fair on live bait. Catfish are fair on live bait.

HUBBARD CREEK: Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 2.46' low. Black bass are fair on shad-colored crankbaits along points and stickups, and crawfish crankbaits along reeds and timber. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows. White bass and hybrid striper are good on live bait and crankbaits. Catfish are good on live and cut bait.

NASWORTHY: Water lightly stained; 72 degrees. Black bass are fair on live bait. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. Redfish are fair. White bass and striped bass are fair. Catfish are fair on live bait.

OAK CREEK: Water lightly stained; 68 degrees; 2.01' low. Black bass are fair. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair on live bait.

O.H. IVIE: Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 12.55' low. Black bass are fair on shad-colored crankbaits or spinnerbaits slow-rolled along drop-offs, and live baits worked along tree lines. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. White bass are good on live bait and chrome crankbaits. Smallmouth bass are fair on live bait. Channel catfish are good on cut and live bait.

POSSUM KINGDOM: Water stained; 70 degrees; 2.20' low. Black bass to five-pounds are good on secondary points with white spinnerbaits and silver crankbaits in 2-12 feet. Crappie are fair on small white jigs worked along wood structure in the Rock Creek area. White bass are excellent on spoons, Little Georges and silver Rat-L-Traps while schooling along points in mid-lake coves. Striped bass are good on live shad below the dam. Catfish are excellent on live shad, cut bait and liver along the river channel on the north end.

SPENCE: Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 50.23' low. Black bass are slow. Crappie are slow. White bass are slow. Striped bass and hybrid striper are slow. Catfish are slow.

STAMFORD: Water lightly stained; 71 degrees; 2.02' low. Black bass are fair on live bait and shad-colored crankbaits. Crappie are fair on live bait. White and striped bass are fair on live bait. Catfish are fair on live bait.

SWEETWATER: Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 1.81' low. Black bass are slow on live bait. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. White bass are slow. Catfish are slow on live bait.

WHITE RIVER: Water lightly stained; 67 degrees; 28.45' low. Black bass are fair on black/blue jigs along grass lines, and shad-colored crankbaits along points and channels. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows. Walleye are fair on live bait. Channel catfish are fair on cut shad.

WICHITA: Water stained and clearing; 68 degrees; 0.13' low. Crappie are slow near the pavilion pilings and off the dam. White bass and hybrid striped bass to 7-pounds are fair on minnows and live shad near the dam and pavilion poles. Channel catfish are fair drifting shad and on trotlines.

COASTAL

NORTH SABINE: Redfish are good in the marsh on Stanley Ribbits and small topwaters. Trout are fair to good under the birds in the middle of the lake on soft plastics and topwaters.

SOUTH SABINE: Trout are fair to good while drifting shell and pods of shad. Bull redfish are good at the jetty on crabs and shrimp. Flounder are fair to good around the cuts and bayous leading to the lake.

BOLIVAR: Redfish are good in Rollover Pass on natural baits. Flounder are fair to good on the shorelines on jigs tipped with shrimp.

TRINITY BAY: Trout are fair to good in 4-6 feet of water while working slicks and pods of mullet. Redfish are fair to good around the spillway on natural baits. Birds have worked on the north shoreline when the wind allows.

EAST GALVESTON BAY: Trout are fair to good while drifting shell in 4-6 feet of water on soft plastics. Birds have worked on the north shoreline. North winds have pushed lots of debris to the middle of the bay. Be aware of floating debris.

WEST GALVESTON BAY: Some birds have worked in the evening. Small trout have been caught while drifting shell and mud. Bull redfish and sharks have been taken at the jetty on a variety of natural baits.

TEXAS CITY: Flounder are showing on the flats adjacent to the channel. Best baits have been mud minnows and jigs tipped with shrimp.

FREEPORT: Bull redfish are good at the jetty on shrimp and crabs. Flounder are fair to good at San Luis Pass on soft plastics tipped with shrimp and mud minnows.

EAST MATAGORDA: Trout are fair to good while drifting over shell. Waders have taken better trout on mid-bay reefs. Trout are good on the south shoreline on small Super Spooks and pumpkinseed-colored plastics.

MATAGORDA: Trout are fair to good while drifting mud and shell on Gulps under popping corks. Trout are fair on the south shoreline of West Bay over sand and grass on Bass Assassins, Sand Eels and Trout Killers. Redfish are good in Oyster Lake on live shrimp and Gulps.

PORT O'CONNOR: Bull redfish are good at the jetty on crabs, finger mullet and live shrimp. Trout are good over shell and mud in San Antonio Bay on soft plastics and topwaters. Redfish are schooling on the flats.

ROCKPORT: Trout are fair to good over shell and mud for waders working topwaters and soft plastics in Copano Bay. Redfish are good on live shrimp under a cork while drifting the Estes Flats.

PORT ARANSAS: Redfish are fair to good around East Flats and Dagger Island on Gulps and shrimp. Bull redfish are good at the jetty on crabs, finger mullet, cut bait and fresh table shrimp.

CORPUS CHRISTI: Redfish are schooling on sand and grass. Trout are fair on the reefs in Nueces Bay on live bait. Trout are fair to good from the piers at night on live bait.

BAFFIN BAY: Waders have taken trout on Bass Assassins, Sand Eels and Corkies while wading the King Ranch shoreline. Trout are good on topwaters around the rocks and on sand and grass. Good catches of trout have been taken under lights at night in the Land Cut on live shrimp and glow plastics.

PORT MANSFIELD: Trout are good around pods of bait on topwaters and soft plastics. Redfish are good in the surf around East Cut on mullet and other natural baits. Redfish are good for sight-casters tossing to schools of fish roaming the flats.

SOUTH PADRE: Redfish are good on the flats on DOA Shrimp and Gulps. Snook are good in South Bay and around the jetties on shrimp and DOA Shrimp. Mangrove snapper are beginning to show at the jetty on shrimp.

PORT ISABEL: Redfish are good around the spoils on live shrimp, Gulps and DOA Shrimp under popping corks. Trout are fair to good over sand and grass on the same baits.
