Bryan boys top Belton in 13-5A showdown: Sean Weatherford pitched a two-hit, complete game shutout, and the Bryan Vikings beat Belton 4-0 Tuesday night at Viking Field to grab sole possession of first place in District 13-5A.
Weatherford (4-1) struck out 12 and walked four in his third complete game shutout of the season. Bryan's offense gave him all the support he needed in the fourth when Krey Bratsen led off with the first of three consecutive doubles to give the Vikings a 2-0 lead.
Bryan (16-2-1, 4-0 in 13-5A) will try to remain undefeated in district when the Vikings play at Harker Heights at 7 p.m. Friday.

Consol falls to Houston Episcopal: A&M Consolidated lost 8-1 to Houston Episcopal on Tuesday at Tiger Field. Carson Shomaker led Consol at the plate, going 2 for 2 with an RBI. Matt Nunley added a double.
Consol (10-9) will play at Belton at 7 p.m. Friday.

Blinn tops South Suburban College: The Blinn College baseball team defeated South Suburban College 15-4 in 7 innings Tuesday.
Brandon Finken earned the victory on the mound, while Zach Leonhardt and Mario Eramo each hit home runs.
Blinn plays at San Jacinto College on Wednesday before returning home Saturday for a doubleheader against San Jacinto.
GOLF
Consol boys in third, Bryan fourth at District 13-5A tournament: TEMPLE -- A&M Consolidated's A team shot 314 and stands in second, while Bryan's A team is third at 334 after one round of the three-round District 13-5A boys golf tournament at Sammons Park Golf Course on Tuesday. Belton A leads at 312.
The second round is set for March 31 at The Courses of Clear Creek in Fort Hood, while the final round is April 7 at Briarcrest Country Club.
Consol A's Kay Jang shot 71 and leads Belton A's Dylan Anthony by four strokes in the individual standings.
Also for Consol's A team, Mike Eyeington shot 78, while Kyle Jordan shot 82, Jimmy Balthrop 83 and Kameron Kitchens 84.
For Bryan's A team, Lane Hudson shot 76 and is in third individually. Also for Bryan A, Cody Meier shot 84, Tucker Hicks 85, Sam Destefano 89 and Tyler Zollinger 92.
Consol's B team is in seventh at 372. Consol B finishers were Stewart Wilding (90), Parker Lumpee (94), Stephen Hines (95), and Rusty Harrison (99).
Bryan's B team is in ninth at 376. Bryan B finishers were Joey Micheletti (89), Tyler Varisco (94), Mason Hein (96), Matthew Wilkinson (97) and Nick Polak (98)
Consol medalists Ben Hughes shot 93 and Jacob Vandewanter shot 103.
SOFTBALL
Consol grabs road win over Shoemaker: KILLEEN -- Summer Groholsky struck out 14 and gave up just three hits in A&M Consolidated's 6-0 shutout over Killeen Shoemaker on Tuesday.
Dayton Kunz got the Lady Tigers (15-10, 5-1 in 13-5A) going in the fourth inning with a two-run double that provided all the support Groholsky (5-4) needed.
Consol's JV team stayed perfect in District 13-5A with a 14-0 victory over Shoemaker. Courtney Weldon picked up the win for Consol's JV (6-1-1, 5-0).
Consol will host Harker Heights at 7 p.m. Friday.

Blinn sweeps pair over Hill College: The Blinn College softball team swept a doubleheader over Hill College 8-0 and 9-1 on Tuesday.
Blinn (24-7) won Game 1 in 6 innings with Lisa Klein (4-1) earning the win. In Game 2, the Lady Bucs won in 5 innings with Carlee Winkelmann (5-1) earning the win.
Blinn travels to Galveston College on Wednesday.
VOLLEYBALL
Blinn named among nation's top academic teams: The National Junior College Athletic Association recently named Blinn one of the top academic teams of the 2007 season.
It marks the fourth straight year the Lady Bucs have been named among the NJCAA Fall Academic Teams of the Year.
The minimum grade point average requirement for consideration was 3.0. Blinn's team GPA was 3.32.
