Pistons fire Curry after one season as coach
DETROIT -- The Detroit Pistons fired coach Michael Curry on Tuesday as the team started rebuilding from an unpopular trade, a sub-.500 record and an embarrassing first-round ex-it from the playoffs that ended its six-year streak of making it to the conference finals.
The Pistons went 39-43 and were swept in the postseason in four lopsided losses to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Pistons began the season with big hopes but couldn't recover from the loss of All-Star point guard Chauncey Billups in a November trade to Denver for Allen Iverson -- a move intended to feature Iverson's creativity and create time for emerging guard Rodney Stuckey.
Instead, the Pistons fell apart. They won just three games in February and three in April, plummeting to the final spot in the Eastern Conference playoff seeding.
Pirates trade Morgan, Hinske; get Milledge
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Pirates, swapping outfielders at a rapid rate for the second straight season, sent starting left fielder Nyjer Morgan (right) to the Washington Nationals in a four-player deal involving outfielder Lastings Milledge (left) and also shipped backup Eric Hinske to the Yankees on Tuesday.
The Pirates, who have pushed to restock a thin farm system by making numerous trades over the last year, get Milledge and reliever Joel Hanrahan from the Nationals for the fleet Morgan and left-hander Sean Burnett, a former first-round draft pick.
Earlier, they sent 2002 AL Rookie of the Year Hinske to the Yankees for minor-league right-hander Casey Erickson and outfielder Eric Fryer. The Yankees also get some cash to help pay Hinske's $1.5 million salary.
The Pirates sent former NL All-Star center fielder Nate McLouth to the Braves on June 4 for pitcher Charlie Morton and two other prospects.
Vick bankruptcy plan adjusted to pay more
NORFOLK, Va. -- Michael Vick's revised bankruptcy plan would funnel more of his future pay to his creditors and ensure that they receive a portion of his earnings even if the suspended NFL star doesn't return to the league.
Under the new plan being drawn up Tuesday, 10 percent of the first $750,000 Vick earns would go to creditors, and he's agreed to liquidate a house under construction in Virginia. If Vick doesn't return to the NFL, the new plan would give creditors a portion of whatever he earns from a lower paying job.

The Silver Stars (3-4) had a shot to win it, but Belinda Snell's late 3-pointer missed.
