Mavs win 10th straight; Spurs defeat Hornets
Dirk Nowitzki had 31 points and 12 rebounds, rookie Roddy Beaubois added a career-high 22 points and the Mavericks extended their season-high winning streak to 10 games with a 108-100 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Friday night in Dallas.
Beaubois went 9 for 14 from the field and 3 for 6 on 3-pointers in 24-plus minutes, taking advantage of the absence of the team's No. 2 scorer, injured guard Jason Terry.
In San Antonio, Tony Parker scored 20 points and the Spurs won their third straight, beating the New Orleans Hornets for the fourth time with a 102-91 victory.
Manu Ginobili had 16 points and Keith Bogans scored 15 for the Spurs, who extended their longest winning streak in nearly two months and swept the season series from the Hornets for the second time in four seasons.
Astros pitchers struggle; Feldman solid for Texas
Astros starter Wandy Rodriguez allowed three earned runs in two innings Friday as Houston lost to the Detroit Tigers 17-7 in Lakeland, Fla.
Houston reliever Polin Trinidad walked all four batters he faced to lead off the eighth inning before being lifted. Astros pitchers walked 11 total.
In Surprise, Ariz., Zack Greinke pitched three scoreless innings as the Kansas City Royals beat the Texas Rangers 4-2.
Scott Feldman, a 17-game winner last season with the Rangers, allowed a run on three hits in two innings.
Bears land big prize in defensive end Peppers
LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Julius Peppers is no longer a Panther.
The five-time Pro Bowl defensive end and top free agent prize agreed Friday to a six-year deal with the Chicago Bears.
Terms of Peppers' deal were not released. Several outlets reported it was worth $72 million, with about $40 million coming in the first three years.
Also Friday, Baltimore obtained receiver Anquan Boldin for a third- and fourth-round pick in the 2010 draft, Miami signed linebacker Karlos Dansby and the New York Giants added safety Antrel Rolle. Each player played for Arizona last season.
