Kansas State's Martin signs contract extension
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Frank Martin agreed to a contract extension with Kansas State that will boost his annual salary to more than $1.5 million on Sunday, the same day he was named Big 12 coach of the year by his fellow coaches and the AP.
Martin, the first man to win 20-plus games in each of his first three seasons at Kansas State, had been one of the lowest-paid coaches in the Big 12 at around $250,000 annually. The Wildcats finished the regular season 24-6 overall and 11-5 in the Big 12, second to Kansas. His three-year record is 67-30.
Athletic director John Currie said at a news conference that Martin would make an average of $1.55 million for the 2010-11 season through 2014-15, and also receive a signing bonus of $462,800.
Villegas pulls away for victory at Honda Classic
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- Camilo Villegas won the Honda Classic, shooting a final-round 68 on Sunday to finish at 13-under 267 and post his third PGA Tour victory.
Villegas finished five shots ahead of Anthony Kim (67) and six ahead of Justin Rose (64), opening what was a six-shot lead shortly after making the turn at PGA National.
Jaguars sign Pro Bowl defensive end Kampman
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars signed free agent defensive end Aaron Kampman on Sunday.
The two-time Pro Bowl defensive end spent eight seasons with Green Bay, tallying 54 career sacks. He's tied for fifth in the NFL from 2006 to 2009 with 40.5 sacks.
