MUSIC & DANCING
The next Bryan/College Station Contra Dance is 7-10 p.m. on Saturday at the Unitarian Church, 305 Wellborn Road. Huntsville's No Foolin' will perform and callers are Lorraine Puckhaber, Rosie and Stan Swanson. Beginner's instructions are given in the first hour. Cost is $5 ($3 for students). Treasure Island, Tickets are now available for Stagecenter Community Theatre's production of Robert Louis Stevenson's The Adventures of Treasure Island. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 11-13, 18-20 and 25-27. A Sunday afternoon matinee is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sept. 21. Tickets available at the door on show nights or in advance at The Arts Council offices at 2275 Dartmouth in College Station. This tale of treasure maps, mutiny on the high seas and pirate booty follows Jim Hawkins, an ordinary youth drawn into a dangerous race for buried treasure against the treacherous and infamous Long John Silver. EXHIBITS
Carnaval images, costume pieces and masks from Carnaval performances around the world, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History through Oct. 23. The exhibit was developed by the Museum of International Folk Art. $5 for adults, $4 for seniors or students, free for age 3 and under.
"Siempre! Hispanics at Texas A&M Celebrating 130 years" is an exhibit that will spotlight the contributions of Hispanics to the University since the school opened in 1876. Forsyth Galleries at the Memorial Student Center from Sept. 9th through Dec. 14th.
