Shameless plug alert: Kelly Minnis -- who has helped keep loyal Spotlight readers informed about the local and independent music scenes with his weekly columns -- also has a clever solo electronic project called great unwashed luminaries.
Minnis is among four local acts who will perform at Sinkhole Texas Inc.'s showcase and CD release extravaganza at Revolution Cafe & Bar on Saturday.
Under the great unwashed luminaries moniker, Minnis has played his computer-aided synth songs at small clubs and house parties since he lived in Seattle in 2004. He will be joined Saturday by video game virtuoso Atarimatt, punk rockers Before the Mast and the newborn indie band Machine Meets Land.
All four bands are local and all will be releasing albums at the show: Machine Meets Land will release is first EP Forgot About the Whistle Industry. The MP3s on its MySpace site suggest that it easily is the most promising act on the bill.
Great unwashed luminaries and Atarimatt will release a split EP called I Was a Teenage Metalhead, and Before the Mast will release a self-titled EP.
The show begins at 10 p.m. and the cover is $3.
