BIG EVENTS

The City of Bryan and Bryan Parks and Recreation Family Campout is 3 p.m. Saturday through 9 a.m. Sunday at Austin's Colony Park, Bryan. Cost is $5 per person. Families can enjoy a hot dog dinner, games, crafts, stargazing, campfire stories, s'mores and breakfast with coffee. The movie Open Season will be shown on a big screen. The Texas Renaissance Festival runs through Nov. 29. The festival site is off F.M. 1774 in Plantersville. Each weekend has a unique theme: Saturday and Sunday -- Roman Bacchanal; Nov. 14-15 -- Highland Fling; Nov. 21-22 -- Barbarian Invasion; Nov. 27-29 -- Celtic Christmas. The 2009 Brazos Valley Worldfest is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 14 at Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater. The Worldfest, organized by Texas A&M University and the City of College Station, is a community-wide international festival to promote and celebrate the international diversity and heritage of the Brazos Valley. The event is free and parking is available at Post Oak Mall. The festival includes culture displays, demonstrations, performances on 3 stages, arts and crafts, storytelling, vendors, international cuisine and more.
