ALICE, Texas -- A narcotics-sniffing dog in South Texas that helped with several drug cases has been taken from his kennel.
Jim Wells County Sheriff Oscar Lopez says the 4-year-old German shepherd is named Ivo (EYE'-voh).
Lopez told The Associated Press on Thursday that the dog turned up missing from the kennel in a deputy's fenced-in back yard in Premont (PREE'-mahnt).
The sheriff described the dog as black with brown feet, "very friendly, but he's useless to anybody else."
Lopez says the dog was reported missing Saturday after "somebody went in and got him out of there."
The sheriff declined to speculate on who took Ivo.
