ATF agent shot during warrant sweep

DALLAS -- A Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives spokesman says an agent who was shot during a warrant sweep on suspected gang members has injuries that aren't life-threatening.

Tom Crowley says the agent was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital on Thursday. He says the agent was shot at least once at the doorway of the home where the warrant was being served. He declined to name the agent.

Crowley says a 29-year-old man was taken into custody. He says he expects charges to be filed by the U.S. Attorney's office after an investigation.

The agent was working with a team that included the ATF, Dallas police and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration. They were serving federal narcotics and weapons warrants on suspected gang members in southeast Dallas.
