Girl, 2, recovering from suspected child abuse

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- A 2-year-old girl is in stable condition at a hospital after her mother was arrested on a charge of injury to a child.

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services spokesman, John Lennan, says the child is being treated at Driscoll Children's Hospital. Lennan says someone saw 22-year-old Anna Resendez Rodriguez injecting an unknown substance into her daughter's arm during a stay at the hospital Friday.

The child is in state custody pending a hearing on Dec. 7.

Rodriguez was arrested Friday by Corpus Christi police and a detention officer says she was placed under a $100,000 bond but she was not in custody Tuesday night.
