Grand jury indicts Cheney, Gonzales
McALLEN -- A South Texas grand jury has indicted Vice President Dick Cheney and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on state charges related to the alleged abuse of prisoners in Willacy County's federal detention centers.
Presiding Judge Manuel Banales of the Fifth Administrative Judicial Region had not signed the indictments.
Cheney's indictment on a charge of engaging in an organized criminal activity criticizes his investment in the Vanguard Group, which holds interests in the private prison companies running the federal detention centers. It accuses Cheney of a conflict of interest and "at least misdemeanor assaults" on detainees because of his link to the prison companies.
A spokeswoman for Cheney declined to comment, saying he had not received a copy of the indictment.
The indictment accuses Gonzales of using his position while in office to stop a 2006 investigation into abuses at one of the privately run prisons.
Gonzales' attorney, George Terwilliger III, said in a written statement, "This is obviously a bogus charge. ..."

Comment Title: Could it be worse?
I can not imagine our country in a worse condition than exist today. We are in a war that had no basis and is not winnable, the economy is near depression, socialism has been forced upon the citizens to bail out the economy, the Oil Oligopoly got away under this administration with raping the American public, CEO have run Public Corp. in the ground without any recourse, over 4,000 young men and women have died in the Bush war, The Texas Rangers played poorly and the Cowboys are in the cellar. Now exactly what is good about the state of affairs being taken over by the new administration. We do not want to hear it would have been worse without Bush because we all know that is BS. Tell me something good the Bush administration has accomplished.

Just be thankful that Clinton's wife didn't get elected. Can you imagine? And Obama will probably nominate her for Sec. of State. What an abomination.

While this "put everybody" in a house began with Clinton, Bush and his cronies perpetuated the situation and made it what it is today. None of these pols, Rep or Dem, have the nads to fix the situation. Bush is an embarrassment to Texas.

Comment Title: Don't go alone!
If you do leave (and that was a brilliant idea!), please don't go alone. That will leave a better place for those of us that don't agree with everything that President Bush has done, yet we remember that we could have ended up with Algore or Teresa Kerry's husband. After the next 2 years, the nation will welcome the eviction of the liberal agenda that we're ALL going to choke on.
