The heat isn't letting go of Texas.
Forecasters for the National Weather Service expect 100-degree readings throughout the state on Wednesday with conditions feeling as warm as 110 in Central Texas and around 105 in North Texas and along the Gulf Coast.
Dry weather and extremely hot afternoons may persist in Central Texas because of a high pressure system over South Central Texas. Highs could climb from the upper 90s to around 105 with heat index values ranging as high as 110 in the afternoons and early evenings. Overnight lows in the upper 70s were also possible with calm winds around 5 mph expected.
The same hot-dry weather pattern was forecast for the Gulf Coast. Highs could reach 101 with heat index values from 101 to 106. Lows near 80 were expected at night.
Temperatures could climb into the 100s a second straight day in North Texas. Highs near 101 and 102 were possible around Dallas and Fort Worth, but the weather service expects temperatures to feel as warm as 105 when heat index values are considered. Overnight lows ranging from the mid-70s to around 80 were also possible.
In West Texas, partly sunny skies were expected with highs in the mid-90s and overnight lows in the 70s.
Skies were expected to be sunny and clear in the Panhandle with highs in the mid- to upper 90s and overnight lows around 70.
