HOUSTON -- Harris County Commissioner Jerry Eversole has been fined $75,000 by the Texas Ethics Commission over how he spent campaign funds.
Eversole, who has denied ethical or criminal wrongdoing, said he signed an "order and agreed resolution" in the matter.
Eversole, in a statement, said he is ready to move forward after accepting responsibility for "the past errors." The commissioner also says he is revamping his campaign finance disclosure practices.
The Houston Chronicle reports that Eversole, under the TEC agreement, also agreed to reimburse his campaign more than $41,000.
Eversole declined further comment late Monday.
The ethics review came after stories, beginning in 2007, by KTRK-TV about Eversole's work habits and campaign spending.
