SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Texas A&M men’s and women’s track teams added 11 qualifiers for the NCAA Championships on the second day of the NCAA West Preliminary on Saturday.
A&M has added 16 total qualifiers at the meet in addition to its two entries from the heptathlon and decathlon.
The Aggies advanced three in the 800 with Jazmine Fray running a collegiate-leading time of 2 minutes, 2.28 seconds to secure her spot on the women’s side. Devin Dixon (1:46.16) finished second in his heat, and Carlton Orange (1:47.13) took third in his heat as both moved on in the men’s 800.
Syaira Richardson won her heat in the 400 in 52.11, and Tierra Robinson-Jones clocked 52.71 to finish third in her heat as both advanced.
On the men’s side, Jace Comick (10.30) qualified in the 100, and Bryce Deadmon (45.85) advanced in the 400. Robert Grant (49.61) and Infinite Tucker (50.53), photo finishers in the 400 hurdles at the SEC meet, both finished second in their heats and punched their tickets to the NCAA meet. William Petersson and Sam Hardin advanced in the javelin with throws of 223-1 and 221-10, respectively.
