The Texas A&M men are ranked third in the NCAA South Central Region with the Aggie women ranked fifth by United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Both programs are predicted to finish sixth in the Southeastern Conference in a vote by the league’s coaches.

The Texas A&M men’s basketball, softball and women’s cross country teams earned NCAA Public Recognition Awards for scoring in the Top 10 percent of their sports in the recent Academic Progress Rates (APR).

Texas A&M cross country runners Jonathon Bishop and Ashley Driscoll were honored as All-Academic by the USTFCCCA on Thursday, and both Aggie teams earned All-Academic team recognition. The Aggie women’s team finished with a 3.42 grade point average, while the men had a 3.19.

Texas A&M’s Ryan Trahan was named the Southeastern Conference’s freshman cross country runner of the week after finishing third at the Aggieland Open. He ran the 5,000-meter race in 15:27.4, and the Aggies finished second as a team. 

Texas A&M’s Ryan Yerrow was named the Southeastern Conference’s freshman runner of the week in cross country after placing seventh at the A&M Invitational last week, recording a time of 24 minutes, 16.1 seconds on the 8,000-meter course.

Texas A&M’s Ryan Yerrow was the Southeastern Conference’s freshman of the week for men’s cross country after placing 10th at Georgia’s Bulldog SEC Preview. Yerrow was the top freshman in the 78-player field, covering 8,000 meters in 25 minutes, 45.3 seconds.
