QUERETARO, Mexico — Texas A&M’s Devin Dixon won the 800 meters at the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) U23 Championships with a time of 1:47.69.

Syaira Richardson placed fourth in the 400 meters.

Dixon claimed victory by nearly two seconds over U.S. teammate Isaiah Jewett of USC (1:49.43) and Jamaica’s Jauavney James (1:49.52).

Richardson posted a time of 53.04 for fourth in the 400 final after running 53.30 in the semifinal. Canada’s Kyra Constantine won in 51.51 over Jamaica’s Roneisha McGregor (51.70).

This coming week Aggie Tyra Gittens will compete in the World University Games for Trinidad and Tobago. Gittens is scheduled to compete in the high jump and long jump. She established career best marks in both events this season, clearing 6-1 ½ twice in the high jump and leaping 21-5¼ in the long jump.
