Eight current and former Texas A&M swimmers will participate in the 18th FINA World Championships that open Sunday at the Nambu International Aquatics Centre in Gwangju, South Korea. 

A&M sophomore Kaloyan Bratanov will compete for the Bulgarian men, while junior Jing Wen Quah (Singapore) and senior Anna Belousova (Russia) will compete on the women’s side.

Former A&M women’s swimmers Sydney Pickrem (Canada), McKenna DeBever (Peru), Beryl Gastaldello (France) and Alia Atkinson (Jamaica) also are set to compete.

And current A&M director of operations and former swimmer Alex Dawson is the United States team’s head manager.

The meet runs through July 28.
