Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher’s 10-year, $75-million, guaranteed contract is now official.
Fisher was hired from Florida State in December but hadn’t signed the contract. An A&M official said Tuesday afternoon that it’s now official. The Houston Chronicle's Brent Zwerneman first tweeted the news.
Fisher told media after the Aggies' first practice of fall camp that the hang up was not something the university had brought to him.
"It’s finalized," Fisher said on Aug. 2. "I don’t know. The thing of paying it and doing it, we’re all fine. It’s nothing they’ve come to me with, so it’s nothing that major."
A&M in recent months said the contract wasn't available after open records requests seeking copies of the contract for Fisher and certain other staffers' contracts.
