Texas A&M vs. Arkansas baseball

Texas A&M starter John Doxakis delivers a pitch in the second inning against Arkansas on Friday at Blue Bell Park.

Texas A&M pitchers John Doxakis and Asa Lacy made the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s All-America Team, the NCBWA announced Wednesday. Doxakis made the second team and Lacy the third team.

Doxakis also made the Perfect Game/Rawlings’ All-America second team, while Lacy earned honorable mention.

Doxakis, a second-round pick by the Tampa Bay Rays in this year’s MLB draft, finished his junior season with a 7-4 record, 2.06 ERA and 115 strikeouts in 104 2/3 innings. Lacy, a sophomore, went 8-4 with a 2.13 ERA. Both pitchers helped A&M set a team record with 673 strikeouts this season.

Congratulations to Dox and Asa for their great year and awards. I think it interesting to note, however, that D1Baseball, which has been a big A&M "fan" in the past, had both as 3rd team All American selections, but no other Aggie. Not even Shewmake. Just another indication that changes need to be made off the mound if they are going to be serious CWS contenders, or just pretenders. Think about it.
