LIMA, Peru – Former Texas A&M swimmers Sarah Gibson (2014-17) and Claire Rasmus (2016-19) helped the United States women’s swimming team win the 4x200-meter freestyle relay Friday at the Pan American Games in 7 minutes, 57.33 seconds.

Rasmus had a leadoff leg of 1:59.17 and Gibson did the third leg in 2:01.75.

A&M junior point guard Chennedy Carter scored a team-high 14 points in U.S.’s 62-59 victory over Puerto Rico in the semifinals. The U.S. plays Brazil at 9 p.m. Saturday.

Former A&M swimmer Angel Martinez (2016-19) helped Mexico to a bronze medal in the men’s 4x200 freestyle relay. Martinez had a split of 1:51.29 to help Mexico finish in 7:19.43, behind Brazil (7:10.66) and the United States (7:14.82).

Former A&M volunteer assistant Ariana Ince claimed bronze in the javelin for the U.S., with a throw of 204 feet, 5 inches.

Former A&M swimmer Monika Gonzalez-Hermosillo (2016-19) was eighth in the 400 IM for Mexico (4:53.75).

Texas A&M senior libero Camila Gomez had 31 digs to help the Colombia volleyball team to a 25-18, 25-19, 19-25, 25-20 victory over Canada.

Former A&M softball infielder Tori Vidales (2015-18) went 1 for 3 for Mexico as it lost 3-2 in eight innings to Puerto Rico in an elimination game. Vidales batted .471 in the tournament.
