A&M track & field

Texas A&M track and field coach Pat Henry (right) and sprint coach Vince Anderson have put the Aggies in a position to make a run at both the men’s and women’s NCAA titles this week at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.

The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents authorized President Michael K. Young to negotiate and execute a new contract for A&M men's and women's track coach Pat Henry Thursday.

His existing contract runs through 2019.

Henry has claimed eight national championships between the men's and women's teams in his 13-year tenure in Aggieland.

Last season, the men finished third in the country in outdoor and tenth in indoor, while the women finished fifth in outdoor and 36th in indoor.

In 2018, the A&M track and field program will open a new 52,000-square foot outdoor stadium.

He has led his teams to more national championships than all other sports combined at A&M, ever.
