The Texas A&M cross country teams sweeped the Aggie Opener on Friday at the Dale Watts Course.

The Aggie women scored 23 points to beat the five-team field of UT Rio Grande Valley (39), UTSA (97), Houston (103) and Stephen F. Austin (127).

Ashley Driscoll finished second with a time of 14 minutes, 31.3 seconds on the 4,100-meter women’s course, and teammate Kelsie Warren, a College Station High grad, was third in 14:45.5. UTRGV’s Melanie Chelangat won in 14:29.7.

Other Aggie scorers were Rachel Bernardo fifth in 14:49.9, Lizette Chapa sixth in 14:52.5, Valarie Bradley seventh in 14:56.7 and Nikki Keys eighth in 15:04.8.

The A&M men scored 33 points followed by UTRGV (43), Houston (59), UTSA (108) and SFA (127). Jacob Perry placed third in the men’s 6,000 in 18:46.1, and teammates Jon Bishop and Zephyr Seagraves, both College Station High grads, tied for fourth in 18:46.2. UTRGV’s Abraham Chirchir won in 18:34.9.

Other Aggie scorers include Noah Jacobs 10th in 19:04.7 and Brandt Preston 14th in 19:14.4.
