The Texas A&M men’s and women’s cross country teams swept the team titles at the season-opening A&M Invitational on Friday at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course.
A&M’s Kelsie Warren, a College Station graduate, won the women’s 5,000-meter race in 17 minutes, 27.6 seconds, while teammate Ashley Driscoll took second in 17:50.8. A&M’s Ashton Hutcherson placed fourth (18:31.9), Abbey Santoro fifth (18:33.5) and Julie Black sixth (18:34.7) as the Aggies won with 18 points. Baylor took second with 53 points followed by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (97), SMU (109), Texas-Rio Grande Valley (109) and West Texas A&M (150).
Wes McPhail led the A&M men by finishing third in 24:52.5 over 8,000 meters. Also for A&M, Jackson Jett placed ninth (25:16.2); College Station’s Zephyr Seagraves placed 11th (25:21.0); Colton Colonna took 12th (25:24.2); and Johnathon Blaine finished 15th (25:37.8). The Aggie men won with 50 points followed by West Texas A&M (66), Baylor (67), UTRGV (76) and A&M-Corpus Christi (92).
