Riding for victory

Texas A&M's Haley Franc competes in reining in a Sept. 29, 2017 equestrian meet against South Carolina at the Hildebrand Equine Complex. Texas A&M won its conference opener 12-8.

The Texas A&M equestrian team will hold its annual Maroon & White Scrimmage at 3 p.m. Friday at the Hildebrand Equine Complex. Admission is free.

The Aggies return 11 starters from last season’s team that reached the semifinals of the NCEA Championship. The group includes All-Americans Rebekah Chenelle (fences, flat), Caroline Dance (fences), Ashley Davidson (horsemanship) and Kalee McCann (reining) and Southeastern Conference co-freshman horsemanship rider of the year Alex Albright.

A&M will open the regular season at home against Oklahoma State at 11 a.m. Sept. 28.
