OKLAHOMA CITY — Former Texas A&M All-American Avery Ellis won the American Quarter Horse Association Collegiate Horsemanship Championship on Tuesday.

Riding Huntin for Faith, Ellis beat Georgia’s Bailey Anderson and Graysen Stroud and Auburn’s Kelsey Jung in the finals to win the title.

Ellis, who graduated from A&M Consolidated, opened the 16-rider event Monday by beating Auburn’s Deanna Green in the first round and Oklahoma State’s Erin Bosse in the semifinals.

Ellis also won the event in 2016.
