Texas A&M, Georgia, SEC, Outdoor, Championships, 2019

Texas A&M's Devin Dixon, right, competes in the men's 800 meters at the 2019 SEC Outdoor Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Texas A&M junior Devin Dixon is one of 10 athletes on the Bowerman Award watch list, A&M announced Thursday.

Dixon won his fifth consecutive Southeastern Conference title in the men’s 800 meters last week at the SEC outdoor meet. He broke the SEC outdoor meet record in the process, finishing in 1 minute, 44.76 seconds to break the mark of 1:45.27 set by South Carolina’s Otukile Lekote in 2002.

A&M will compete in the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in Sacramento, California, on May 23-25. The NCAA Outdoor Championships are set for June 5-8 in Austin. A&M’s Tyra Gittens (heptathlon) and Nathan Hite (decathlon) already are qualified for the national meet.
