After helping the Texas A&M women’s tennis team on a run to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA championships, head coach Mark Weaver, assistant coach Jordan Szabo and freshman Katya Townsend garnered ITA Texas region honors Saturday.

Weaver was named coach of the year, and Szabo, who played on the A&M men’s tennis team from 2010-15, received assistant coach of the year honors. Townsend was tabbed the ITA Texas Region’s player to watch. The Aggies’ three awards are the most of any school in the ITA Texas Region.

The ITA national awards, which will be awarded Sunday, will be chosen from a pool of all regional award winners.
