Texas A&M vs. Texas State volleyball

The Texas A&M volleyball team will play former fellow Big 12 opponent Oklahoma at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Reed Arena.

Oklahoma (7-2) has won its last six matches. The Sooners won the Nike Invitational last weekend at home, beating Arizona State, Louisiana and Georgia Tech. OU also won the Indiana Invitational, beating Oregon State, Yale and Indiana — all by 3-2 scores.

A&M (7-1) has won six straight matches, including a sweep of its own invitational over the weekend. A&M also won the Pepperdine tournament Sept. 6-7, beating California Baptist, Fairfield and Pepperdine.

A&M’s lone loss was to Louisville, while OU’s losses were to California and Colorado State.

Makena Patterson earns SEC defensive player of the week

A&M middle blocker Makena Patterson was named the Southeastern Conference’s defensive player of the week after notching 22 blocks in helping the Aggies defeat Texas State, Northwestern State and Texas-Rio Grande Valley.
