Three things to watch for in the A&M-Iowa State game

Note: Game time is 1 p.m. on ESPN

  1. This should be the most entertaining game of the season with how good both teams are and the style with which Iowa State plays. At times against Kansas, Iowa State looked as if it was playing a YMCA game with the only difference being all five players for both teams were getting up and down the court. A&M can play fast but really doesn’t want to get caught up in what the Cyclones do best. A fast pace would appear to be something the Aggies want because of their depth and ISU’s lack of depth – they really only play six players – but A&M needs to be more careful about picking its spots.

  2. Another entertaining factor is Iowa State forward Georges Niang is a first-team All-American. He’s a delight to watch with what he can do, the number of ways in which he can score. Guard Monte Morris is only a step behind Niang. Add in the Aggies’ Jalen Jones, Alex Caruso and Danuel House and there could be five all-conference players on the court at the same time.

  3.  How the game is officiated is key. ISU’s lack of depth could come into play if the game is called tightly. The Cyclones’ big man Jameel McKay is very athletic, but is suffering through pain in his knee, which also could play into how things go. If A&M can keep the speed down one warp speed, Tyler Davis should be able to play a big part posting up with his size.

Enjoy, it should be a good one
