Six Texas A&M athletes from the 2017-18 track and field team and eight former ones are scheduled to compete in the USATF Championships this weekend at Drake University Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Texas A&M’s Tyra Gittens and Shaina Burns finished the first day of the heptathlon in first and second place, respectively, while the Aggies’ Nathan Hite is third in the decathlon after Friday’s action at the Southeastern Conference outdoor track and field meet.

WACO — Texas A&M’s Devin Dixon, the Southeastern Conference 800-meter champion, clocked 45.22 seconds to place second in the 400 and anchored the Aggies to the top spot in the 4x400 to highlight A&M’s showing at the Michael Johnson Invitational on Saturday.

Texas A&M had three athletes earn Southeastern Conference weekly honors after having collegiate-leading efforts at the UCLA Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational.

The Texas A&M track and field teams will compete in the Houston Alumni Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Carl Lewis Complex in Houston. The team-scored event will feature six teams including Lamar, Rice, Tulane, Houston Baptist and host Houston.
