A three-month nurse aide training class will start this fall in Hearne at the school district’s old high school campus.

The class is being offered by the Blinn College Office of Workforce Education and includes classroom, clinical and laboratory hours. The deadline to register is Oct. 2. The cost is $475.

The program prepares students for work in long-term care, home health, hospitals and doctors’ offices. Students will be trained on state curriculum and American Heart Association standards for Basic Life Support Heartsaver CPR.

Graduates of the 104-hour program will receive certificates of completion in nurse aide training and will be eligible to take the Texas Department of Human Services registry exam to become a certified nurse aide.

The program begins Nov. 2, meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays until Feb. 5. Hours for the class are 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. It will be held in room 18 of the former Hearne high school building, at the corner of Wheelock and Hackberry streets.
