Candidate forum set to air on KEOS, Cox

Eagle Staff Report

A forum featuring candidates for local office — one in which community members can participate — is scheduled for Sunday at KEOS Community Radio.

The two-hour broadcast will begin at 5 p.m. at 89.1 FM and Cox cable 91.3 FM. Residents may watch in person at the studios and pose questions or call in their suggestions for discussion.

“It’s pretty much their last opportunity to have their questions and concerns put to the candidates before they vote [Nov. 2],” said KEOS’s Lance Parr, explaining that this is the last scheduled candidate forum that is open to the public.

The KEOS studios are at 207 E. Carson St. in Bryan. The phone number to call in questions is 779-5367.

Appearing at the forum will be candidates for contested offices, including the 17th Congressional District, Brazos County district attorney, Brazos County sheriff, Brazos County tax assessor-collector and Precinct 1 county commissioner.

Candidates will not have any time limit during their discussions, said Parr, who described the format as informal.

The event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Brazos County, KEOS and The Eagle. The moderator will be Robert C. Borden, opinions editor of The Eagle.

The forum will be available for download after Sunday at the radio station’s Web site, www.keos.org. State and local voters guides from the League of Women Voters also are available on the Web site.
